Company is a type of organization in Workday representing a legal entity with a tax ID number. It is the primary organization type for Workday Financial Management.

All financial transactions are for a company, and most financial reports are run in the context of a company, such as balance sheets and income statements. Some security roles are assigned at the company level, such as Accountant, Accounting Manager, Accounts Payable Analyst, and Billing Specialist.

Iowa State University is the only company currently used in Workday.

Company is assigned as a default organization for all supervisory organizations. Since all financial transactions are assigned to a company, this worktag type intersects with all driver worktags and related worktags through operational and manual accounting journals, supplier and customer invoices, purchase orders, costing allocations, and supplier contracts.

Companies in Workday do not include any ID numbers. They are simply assigned their legal name. The only company currently in use in Workday is Iowa State University.

Company Hierarchy ISU is the only company hierarchy in Workday. It contains Iowa State University, the sole company in Workday.

The Workday Finance FDM Governance Strategy and Oversight Committee maintains sole review and approval authority over company creation and maintenance.
